November in England brings us Guy Fawkes Night where families celebrate with fireworks and bonfires. Children make a Guy by stuffing old clothes with hay and shout “penny for the guy”!
Guy Fawkes night falls on November 5 and commemorates the failed assassination attempt known

Usually Autumn is much cooler, however, this year 2022 I am still able to cultivate strawberries & tomatoes! The vegetables in season now are: Artichoke, Beetroot, Carrots, Chicory, Leeks, Parsnip, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Radishes, Rhubarb, Sorrel, Spring Greens, Spring Onions, Watercress, so more recipes to follow on wholesome Italian soups. Season fruits & vegetables cost less, and now that butter has gone up in price why not make your own butter? View my recipes, it takes just one pot of double cream. One-to-one online lessons are available tailored to your specific learning i.e if your thinking of visiting one of these wonderful festivals, why not take a few of our food focused lessons so we can help you get the most of your visit. November in Italy brings us ‘Chestnut Festival in Piancastagnaio’, near Siena which is one of the many places in Italy hosting a food festival celebrating the chestnut season. Chestnuts are available to be eaten by visitors as they wander through the food stalls viewing other seasonal foods, such as truffles and mushrooms, which are used to create many special dishes in the local restaurants.

Olive Festival is on November 3rd which is held in Tuscany. Some of the best olives in the world, where the smell of olives surround you and you’ll leave with bags of the tastiest olives you’ve ever had!
The Rome Jazz Festival takes place during November. It attracts some of the most famous performers in this type of music both local and international. It was once a summer event but, in 1996, switched to the autumn. Tickets can be purchased in advance online but some tickets may be available at the venues.
Autumn month, with summer season now over, however, it is still mild especially in the South of Italy, where a light jacket would suffice, and you will find occasional rain so brollies to hand!
Southern islands of Sicily and Sardinia will be warmer reaching nearly 68 degrees!
Enjoy a late holiday. Arrivederci !!!!!
